ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Aaron Loggins' allegations of a workplace assault got his boss charged with battery.
Now the city worker is in trouble with police himself.
Last Friday, Loggins, 51, sat down with News 13 to talk about a January incident at work involving city community services supervisor Mayan Armijo.
"He dropped his bags and punched me in the chest and grabbed me," Loggins said.
Armijo was charged with battery a week ago because of Loggins and another witness' accounts. Armijo is also facing a September DWI charge.
During the interview, Loggins said Armijo should lose his job.
"In the situation this gentleman should have been removed, removed from his position all the way across the board," Loggins said.
But just two days after that interview, Loggins was arrested.
According to a criminal complaint, a man was driving southbound on Highway 47 early Sunday evening when a blue SUV exiting I-25 swerved into his car. The man drove to Hard Rock Casino and tried to turn left. He told police he spotted the same SUV with Loggins at the wheel at that intersection when the SUV slammed into his car again.
Police say the man confronted Loggins in the casino's parking lot but was yelled at and chased away. The man went to the nearby Isleta Travel Center and called police.
According to a criminal complaint, Loggins' wife drove the SUV to the travel center to meet officers. Police say a visibly drunk Loggins initially told officers that his wife was at the wheel when the crashes happened. When the officer told him the man and his wife said otherwise, Loggins confessed to driving.
Investigators say a breathalyzer test revealed Loggins had a blood alcohol level of .16, twice the legal limit. He's now charged with aggravated DWI.
City spokesperson Breanna Anderson says Loggins will have his city driving privileges revoked because of the DWI charge.
Online court records show that Loggins has another DWI conviction from 1987. That same year, he was also charged with battery but was not convicted. During a phone interview, Loggins said that charge was in retaliation for a battery charge he had pressed against another man.
Loggins declined another on-camera interview with News 13 to discuss his criminal background and declined to comment on Sunday's incident.
