Polce investigate body found near Cuba

CUBA, N.M. (KRQE) - The FBI is investigating a body found 30 to 40 feet from Highway 550.

Officials say the body was found on Highway 550 near the 38 mile marker, on Zia tribal land close to Cuba, New Mexico.

Undersheriff Karl Wiese of Sandco Sheriff said the FBI is the lead agency utile they can figure out if the victim is a tribal member or not.

Authorities say the body is so decomposed that they can not determine whether the victim is a male or female, or what race the victim is.

The scene is being treated as a homicide.
