CLOVIS, N.M. (KRQE) - Police are warning Clovis residents about what they are calling an international phone scam.

They say people have been calling residents saying that their grandchildren are in foreign countries and need money to get out of trouble.

Clovis police have received about a dozen reports of this phone scam since it started last fall.

If you get a phone call like this, call police.

Police say that once residents have sent the money it is almost impossible to recover it.
