PD: Woman smashes into pedestrian, lawn

Pedestrian has broken legs, dislocated shoulder

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Police said a woman led them on a wild chase Saturday night after hitting pedestrian and crashing into someone's front lawn.

Nakeisha Barnes, 27, was booked in the Albuquerque Metropolitan Detention Center early Sunday morning.

The chase started after Barnes hit a pedestrian at the intersection of Menaul and San Mateo, according to police.

The pedestrian suffered broken legs and a dislocated shoulder.

Officers spotted Barnes, but she didn't stop.

They said she eventually crashed into a front yard on the 5700 block o f La Corrida, just off Comanche.

Still the chase continued until police finally stopped her on Uptown.

Police said Barnes showed signs she was driving drunk and admitted she consumed a 40 ounce bottle of malt liquor 30 minutes before the crash.
