PORTALES, N.M. (AP) - Authorities in Portales say they have arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with the slaying of a 22-year-old Eastern New Mexico University student.
Angel Vale, of Roswell, was found dead outside her Portales home on Thursday evening.
Portales police and the district attorney's office say the juvenile male is charged with burglary of Vale's home. Authorities say property stolen from the residence was recovered, as was a gun that is consistent with what might have been used in the killing.
Other physical evidence has also been recovered and a forensic analysis of it will determine whether other charges are filed.
Police say Vale was a student and also worked as a waitress. She had spoken to her mother Thursday afternoon.
