PD investigates possible murder/suicide

CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) - On Tuesday afternoon, Eddy County sheriffs responded to a welfare call on Mora Street in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

After trying to contact the residents, police entered the home. They found Derek Ross, 35, and his 13-year-old daughter inside, victims of a possible murder/suicide.

The police are still investigating the crime. Both people will get an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.

According to Eddy County Sheriff's Department records, this family had a history of domestic violence.
