Parole hearing set for former attorney

SANTA FE (AP) - A former Santa Fe attorney serving prison time for a fatal drunken-driving crash is scheduled for a parole hearing.
In March, corrections officials said improper phone calls and emails to media, family and a lawyer would keep Carlos Fierro in prison at least until September.
The outcome of Fierro's hearing was expected Monday afternoon. Hearings before the parole board are closed to the public.
Fierro was sentenced to seven years in 2009 for the death of pedestrian William Tenorio.
With good time consideration and credit for time served, Fierro had been on pace to be released from the Central New Mexico Correctional Facility as early as this spring.
However, an investigation discovered Fierro and another inmate were caught improperly using various telecommunications devices from an administrative office at the prison.
