Parents of dead girl headed to court

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The father and stepmother of a 4-year-old girl who died are scheduled to be in court Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the toddler was found barely breathing Saturday at a southeast Albuquerque home.
She died at the hospital.
Her dad--Anthony Chavez and stepmother Gayla Hernandez--gave deputies conflicting stories about what happened including the girl being attacked by a pit bull and falling off a scooter.
But investigators didn't buy any of it.
They are now charged with child abuse resulting in death.
The stepmother is also known as Gayla Gallegos, according to jail records.
