ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A 4-year-old girl is in the hospital after as many as five dogs attacked and bit her in her Albuquerque neighborhood this afternoon.
Albuquerque police, firefighters, and animal control officers were called to 94-th street SW, just south of Central after a pack of dogs escaped under a fence and went after the child.
The girl's injuries do not appear to be life threatening but there's no word on her condition but animal control officers tell KRQE News 13 they responded full force, catching a shift change so both teams were able to respond.
Five dogs were seized and two more were taken into protective custody. APD arrested two people, 56-year-old Harris Yazzie and 38-year-old Ernest Chavez for outstanding warrants for previous animal violations and traffic tickets; the investigation continues.
