Officers crack down on ABQ gangs

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Officers attempting to suppress gang activity in Albuquerque had a gun drawn on them Saturday.

The suspects took off and led officers on a chase.

They arrested one suspect, but another got away.

The incident was part of a ten hour crackdown on gangs in the.

Local, state and federal agencies were out on the streets looking for any gang members selling drugs or involved in prostitution.

Two narcotics teams served warrants, while some undercover officers headed to Albuquerque neighborhoods with the most gang issues.

”If you're out, and you're dressed in colors and you're out gang banging, you're going to be contacted,” Lt. William Roseman said. “And if you're out slinging dope you're going to be contacted. Our whole objective is to suppress any gang activity in Albuquerque.”

The New Mexico gang task force is footing the bill for Saturday’s operation.
