RATON, N.M. (KRQE) - A rookie Raton police officer has resigned following a recent gathering at his home that allegedly involved underage drinking.

The Raton Range reports 23-year-old Richard Garcia hosted underage drinking on December 1st.

Police say at least five teens were there, including Garcia’s 19-year-old girlfriend.

Garcia was placed on administrative leave but later resigned.

Police say Garcia was the only person at the party who was over 21-years-old.
