ALBUQUERQUE - The search continues for a missing 15-year-old Truth or Consequences girl possibly abducted by her uncle and headed to California.
Safrina Ugsang was last seen with her uncle, Chris Salgado, just after midnight Thursday morning. She is the subject of an Amber Alert issued by the Truth or Consequences Police Department and New Mexico State Police.
The agencies said they have reason to suspect Ugsang may have been abducted by Salgado, 48, according to the alert issued at about 6 p.m. Thursday.
The two were last seen at about 12:30 a.m. walking away from Ugsang's home on Yucca Street in T or C.
Police said they may be headed to Pomona, Calif., accompanied by Ugsang's father, Robert Ugsang, in a 2000 pearl-white Lincoln Town Car with a lowered suspension. The car displays California license plates.
The family, which recently resided in Pomona, and police fear the child may become the victim of a sex crime perpetrated by her uncle.
The girl is 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 117 pounds. She has long black hair and brown eyes and was wearing a black shirt and black pants.
Salgado is 6 feet 5 inches tall, weighs about 250 and has brown eyes and short or no hair. He also has numerous tattoos on his neck, chest, arms and fingers.
Anyone with information on the case of the whereabouts of Salgado or the Ugsangs can either call 911 or the T or C police at (575) 894-1204.
