ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Police say it's possible a driver who hit and killed a pedestrian Tuesday was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Lester Pino, 43, was hit and killed trying to cross Coors Boulevard outside a designated crosswalk at about 6 a.m., Albuquerque police reported.
Toxicology tests are pending on the driver, Edward Shealy, 52, who told officers he didn't see Pino in the darkness.
Still, police suspect he may have been under the influence of something.
Once the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the District Attorney's Office to determine if charges will be filed.
