ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A local race car driver is accused of using the Albuquerque streets as a racetrack.
A Bernalillo County deputy says he spotted Sean Guthrie , 24, speeding in the area of Rio Grande and Eakes late Saturday night.
When the deputy tried to pull him over, Guthrie took off, driving erratically.
The deputy caught up with Guthrie when he lost control of his car and got stuck in a muddy field.
According to the complaint, Guthrie told the deputy he was trying to get away from another driver who was tailgating him, but the deputy says there were no other cars around.
Sean Guthrie recently competed in the Firestone Indy Lights series.
He is the son of Jim Guthrie a former racer in Indy Racing League.
