PHOENIX. (KRQE) - Two New Mexico murder suspects holed up in a Phoenix motel were in a standoff with police Wednesday night.
Officers said they've been barricaded for more than two hours.
Richard Winters, 20, and Sarah Martinez, 26, are wanted in connection to the murder of Anthony Jacquez on May 27 near Farmington.
Investigators reported he was shot in the head five times and dumped last month about two miles north of State Road 516.
A third man, Vincent Montoya, 28, is still on the run.
Arizona deputies said Winters and Martinez have apparently barricaded themselves in a room at a Motel 6 and are refusing to come out.
Update: The Associate Press reports a Maricopa County Sheriff's Department SWAT team forced entry into the motel room and took four people into custody.
Two of the people are believed to be Winters and Martinez while a third has been tentatively identified as Gabriel Alcon, 22, also a suspect in the murder.
Investigators believe the trio was trying to flee to Mexico.
