Nanny arrested for child abuse

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A Las Cruces nanny has been arrested on suspicion of negligent child abuse.
A couple told police they set up a nanny cam inside their home after jewelry started missing.
Las Cruces police said the tape shows 43-year-old Elvira Talavera Perez throwing baby wipes on a boy's face and shoving one of the wipes inside the toddler's mouth. The video also showed Perez dropping a dirty diaper on the 10-month-old boy's face.
Perez was arrested Wednesday and is being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center on a $30,000 bond.
It couldn't be immediately determined if Perez has an attorney.
