ROSWELL, N.M. - The man murdered Tuesday when he walked in on a burglary has been identified as a former Roswell resident in town for a funeral, according to Roswell police.

Police said Saul Sanchez, who grew up in Roswell, was living in Denver City, Texas.

Investigators believe Sanchez walked into the home of a friend where he was staying in the 1500 block of West Third Street and found the burglar.

The burglar then shot and killed him.

For now the only information police have on the suspect is that he is approximately 6 feet tall and was wearing a mask and hoodie.

"I just know that a lot of people are very concerned," Sabrina Morales of the Roswell police department said.  "They very scared and just let them know this is an incident that the police are working on very hard to get answers to."

Roswell police said a lot of information about the crime is being passed around on Facebook.

Police said they are still in the early stages of the investigation and the information in circulation is uncorroborated.
