ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The suspect who police say was about to skip town was in court Sunday.
Jesus Suarez faced a judge on a murder charge.
According to a criminal complaint, he walked into a south valley home and shot 38-year-old Michael Garris in the back.
Officers say Garris' girlfriend was outside and that Suarez told her to clean up the blood and if she called police he would be back for her.
Garris was rushed to UNM Hospital where he later died.
Suarez was arrested an hour later as he was getting ready to leave town.
“I am going to impose a bond of $100,000 cash only while this matter is pending you will not possess any firearms or dangerous weapons,” a judge said.
At this time police have not said if they have a motive for the shooting.
