ESPAÑOLA, N.M. (KRQE) - The Española mother who was high on drugs when she crashed her car and killed her 3-year-old son wants a judge to reconsider her sentence.

Deven Martinez, 29, was sentenced to six years in prison.

She says she doesn't deserve the maximum sentence because the crash was a result of a chemical dependency.

Her attorney's are instead asking that Martinez be allowed to take part in a drug treatment program.
