FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) - Farmington police allege Clifford Bunnie was driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he struck and injured two men on bicycles Wednesday afternoon

Corey Christy, 38, and Steve Magee, 55, were both taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center after they were hit near the intersection of Cordoba Way and Hood Mesa Trail.

Farmington police Sgt. Taft Tracy said Christy suffered serious injuries and underwent surgery. He is listed in critical but stable condition. Magee had minor injuries and was treated and released.

Tracy said Christy and Magee were biking on Cordoba Way around 4 p.m. when Bunnie, 20, failed to yield, hit them, and kept on going. A witness to the accident called police and then followed Bunnie’s car until police could pull him over.

Bunnie was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI, great bodily harm by vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to stop at a sign and driving without a license.

Tracy said neither Christy nor Magee was wearing a helmet.
