FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) - U.S. marshals say a teen wanted for murder in Colorado has been captured in Farmington.
Tommy Mitchell, 19, was wanted in the shooting death of Joey Benavidez, 39, on the Southern Ute Reservation near Ignacio, Colo., on Tuesday.
The U.S. Marshals service reports it got information that Mitchell was in a trailer home on the 800 block of North Vine Street in Farmington.
Federal and local officers then surrounded the trailer park and as they began searching saw Mitchell run from one of the trailers. He was quickly taken into custody.
Authorities have said the shooting was over a drug deal.
Benavidez reportedly owed money to Mitchell and his alleged accomplice, Elijah Anglin, 18, from Farmington.
Anglin was arrested earlier and faces first-degree murder charges.
The owner of the trailer where Mitchell was hiding was also arrested and charged with harboring a felon.
In 2008, when Mitchell only 14, he pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the killing of a pizza delivery man in Farmington.
While he was originally charged with murder in that case, he received a plea deal because there were problems with the evidence in the case.
