FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) - A Farmington teen who killed a pizza delivery man when he was 14 is now suspected in the murder of a man on the Southern Ute reservation near Ignacio, Colo.
Police say Tommy Mitchell, who is now 19, and Elijah Anglin, 18, murdered Joey Benavidez, 39, Tuesday afternoon.
A Colorado district attorney told the Durango Herald that this was a “cold-blooded” murder resulting from a drug deal gone bad.
Anglin, also of Farmington, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Four Corners police are still looking for Mitchell, who will also be charged with first-degree murder.
In 2008, when Mitchell was only 14, he pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the killing of a pizza delivery man in Farmington.
While he was originally charged with murder in that case, he received a plea deal because there were problems with the evidence in the case.
