ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The former controller of the New Mexico Finance Authority is expected to plead guilty Thursday to fraud.

Under the agreement with prosecutors, Greg Campbell is to plead guilty to two counts of forgery and one count security fraud for allegedly cooking the books to make it appear they had been audited by an outside accounting firm.

Campbell is also accused of misrepresenting the authority audit and financial statements to an investment firm that purchased the agency's bonds in March.

The authority provides financing for capital improvements by cities, counties, schools and other New Mexico governments.

Campbell faces up to six years in prison.
