ALBUQUREQUE (KRQE) - A repeat drunk driver who was convicted late last year of killing a motorcyclist was sentenced to 29 years in prison Monday.
That was the maximum sentence Juan De Dios Cordova faced for the death of Mark Wolfe.
Cordova was drunk and driving on the wrong side of the road near Chimayo Memorial Day 2011 when he hit and killed Wolfe who was with his wife and friends on a motorcycle ride.
The case was filled with problems.
A key piece of evidence, Cordova's truck, was destroyed.
State police blamed the Rio Arriba Sheriff's Department for that mistake.
Despite that, Cordova was found guilty of vehicular homicide, aggravated DWI and other charges.
