SANTA FE (KRQE) - A Santa Fe man, who ran over a guy then left him to die , got a prison sentence and a lecture from the judge.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reports a judge sentenced 27-year-old Leandro Anaya to five years in prison for the death of 50-year-old William "Billy" Schroeder.
Anaya faced a slew of charges, including leaving the scene of the fatal crash in February.
Friday, a judge told Anaya she didn't believe he was sorry then ordered him to apologize to the victim’s family.
Anaya apologized but said he didn't hit Schroeder first and he didn't just leave him he says another car stopped to help.
He was arrested for the hit-and run back in March.
