ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A Laguna Pueblo man was sentenced Monday for running down a Pennsylvania bicyclist on a charity ride in New Mexico nearly three years ago.

According to the Albuquerque journal, the judge sentenced Gilbert Waconda to 182 days in jail and 600 hours of community service in the June 2010 death of 19-year-old John Anczarski.

Anczarski was riding cross-country with the Pink Pedal group raising funds and awareness for the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation when Eaconda hit him from behind on the Laguna Pueblo then took off.

The paper reports, a BIA investigation determined Waconda veered out of his lane.

He pleaded guilty in October to negligent homicide.
