ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The first person to be convicted under New Mexico’s human trafficking law was sentenced Friday morning.

Tilford Black pled guilty to recruiting an 18 year-old homeless woman to be a prostitute, then made her work and kept all the money.

Black was sentenced to three years on the human trafficking charge, but with time already served, he will spend 364 days at the Metro Detention Center.

As part of the plea agreement, Black will have two years of intense supervision, which is the highest level of probation.

Under New Mexico law, Black had to produce DNA.
