ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) - A Roswell man, who allegedly bragged about killing someone, has been arrested for murder.
The suspect has a brother who's doing time for another murder and you may be surprised at what police say the brothers told each other in recorded conversations.
Court records show 21-year-old Raymond Hobbs admitted to his brother he shot and killed a man, even bragged about it.
Roswell police say it happened just before midnight Thursday in this neighborhood on South Mulberry.
Police found 48-year-old Tony Macks dead in an alley.
Police are not saying much about evidence linking Hobbs to the murder.
“Right now its looking like a lot of this information is going to be going to court and that information will not be made public until then,” Sabrina Morales said.
Court records show incriminating phone calls between Hobbs and his brother Gregory Hobbs, who's serving time for a killing a father and son last June.
During the phone calls Hobbs allegedly told his brother he saw Macks in the alley with a woman and claims he told Macks he'd quote 'smoke him.'
Hobbs says Macks pulled a gun, so he shot Macks in the head.
According to the criminal complaint, "Greg stated numerous times that he was proud of Raymond and that he did what he had to do." It also says that Raymond went on to gloat about the murder.
Hobbs was picked up by police around 8 o’clock Sunday night on the same block where the crime occurred.
He's charged with second degree murder for killing Macks.
Last week police released the names of three men as persons of interest, 22-year-old James Stewart, 20-year-old Eric Sedillo and 21-year-old Hobbs.
Stewart is no longer considered a person of interest. But, police believe Sedillo was with Hobbs that night and they're looking for him.
Police believe Hobbs and the victim knew each other.
The women who was with the victim told police they started arguing because Hobbs had cursed at her.
