VALENCIA COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) - The former Albuquerque cop accused of murdering his wife will find out Wednesday if his trial will be moved out of Valencia County.
A judge is set to rule on a change of venue motion for Levi Chavez Wednesday.
Chavez’s attorney claims his client can’t get a fair trial in Valencia County. Chavez is accused of killing his wife, Tera, with his police issued gun in their Los Lunas home back in 2007.
Chavez is requesting his trial, set for next June, but moved to Sandoval County.
Investigators claim Chavez killed his wife to keep her from reporting him for insurance fraud.
