Las Cruces officer shoots trespasser

LAS CRUCES (KRQE) - Las Cruces police say an officer had to shoot a man who threatened him with a knife and refused to put it down.

The officer was responding to a trespassing call in an upscale neighborhood Wednesday when he encountered the man, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported.

The 23-year-old man was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

Police have not released his name.
