ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Six protesters arrested at the gates of Los Alamos National Lab on the anniversary of the atomic bomb drop have avoided jail time.

The judge threw out trespassing charges against the group Wednesday.

However, each protester was fined for about $100 in court costs and probation fees and each received a year's probation.

The protesters had faced 179 days in jail.
