ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Prosecutors thought they had a deal with a young man accused of breaking into an elderly woman's home and trying to smother her.
But Fillip Kosorukov, 21 changed his mind at the last minute and rejected a plea deal. He now will go on trial Monday.
The attack happened in October when the victim says she heard a pounding on her door. When she went to answer it, she says a man forced his way in, threw her on the couch and used a pillow to try to smother her.
That man was later identified as Kosorukov.
Kosorukov was scheduled to plead guilty Wednesday.
The charges against him include kidnapping, attempted murder and assault.
