LAS CRUCES (KRQE) - A federal judge is considering whether to grant a new trial to a Deming family convicted of making false statements during a 2011 firearms sting at their gun store.

A jury convicted Rick and Terri Reese and their son Ryin in August a year after agents raided their store .

They were acquitted of charges they helped to smuggle guns to Mexican drug cartels.

According to the Las Cruces Sun-News, the defense said prosecutors failed to turn over evidence that could challenge the credibility of a prosecution witness.
