SANTA FE (KRQE) - Santa Fe police are looking for a jeweler who promised a couple he’d clean a wedding ring but never gave it back.
Jim Brooks says he took his wife Jann’s $14,000 ring to Rashid Zeid to clean after his wife had gotten glue on it.
Zeid told Brooks he’s clean the ring for a reasonable price and return it in a week.
That was five months ago.
Brooks says Zeid has a series of excuses of why it took so long.
Santa Fe police say Zeid’s business partner recently filed a complaint with them claiming Zeid had stolen money and jewelry from the store. When police went to Zeid’s apartment to talk, they say he was gone.
Investigators have yet to find Zeid or the Brooks’ ring.
