ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - New information has been released in the counterfeit money operation connected to a former Santa Fe police officer.

Court documents reveal a pair of jeans and a pack of cigarettes helped unravel the whole scheme.

According to police, former Santa Fe cop Anthony Rivera and his brother Dominic Rivera were key players in the making of counterfeit $100 bills inside their Santa Fe home.

Also arrested in the case was 19-year-old Tyler Ament.

Police say he was busted after using a fake bill to buy a pair of jeans at a Santa Fe Kohls store and then using the change to buy a pack of cigarettes at a Santa Fe gas station.

Police say Ament identified the Rivera brothers as his co-conspirators, in an operation that spread fake $100 bills across the city.

All three were arrested Sunday.

Anthony Rivera is now a police officer for the Tesuque Pueblo.

Tribal officials have not commented on his employment status.
