ALBUQEURQUE (KRQE) - An inmate is accused of stirring up some serious trouble after flooding his cell and punching a correctional officer in the face.

Police Richard Baca, 28, broke the fire sprinkler inside his cell at Metro Detention Center Friday and then refused to come out.

As water spread through the cells.. Baca covered his window and blocked the door with his mattress.

Officers tried to restrain him but he punched and scratched them. That is when they used a stun gun on Baca.

He was then taken for a medical evaluation.

This weekend Baca appeared in court, charged with battery on a police officer.

He was originally in MDC on burglary and drug charges.
