ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A program that provides ignition interlocks to drunk drivers, who can't afford them, is back but with a few tweaks.
It ran out of money nearly two years ago because nearly a third of all convicted drunk drivers were claiming they could not afford the interlocks.
However, it turns out many of them could actually afford the devices but were scamming the system.
Under the new system, anyone who applies for the help has to meet strict requirements, such as being on certain public assistance programs.
