ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Sheriff's deputies say gunshots were going off as under-aged partiers were held against their will.
Deputies say two young men barricaded themselves and at least fifteen others inside a home in the 1700 block of Atrisco SW.
Neighbors say they heard a dozen gunshots coming from the house early Saturday morning.
The partiers' ages ranged from 14 to 21-years-old. One of them told us there was a lot of confusion during the shooting and that the who ordeal started over a missing iPhone.
Bernalillo County Sheriff's deputies responded to the house but couldn't get inside for hours. They say they heard people struggling to get out, but 19-year-old Alejandro Sandoval and 20-year-old Aaron Sanchez wouldn't let them leave, using mattresses and couches to barricade the doors.
After deputies shot pepper-ball bullets, they found Sanchez hiding under the kitchen table. Sandoval left out the backyard, he was Tased and arrested.
Both men appeared before a judge Sunday where they are each facing 15 felony counts of false imprisonment.
Zay Woods, who was at the party, says the duo didn't hold anyone against their will.
"Everybody in there was trying to hide from the cops, themselves. They were all scared. Everybody was drinking and stuff. There was under-aged people and everybody was trying to hide in there, themselves. It wasn't those two people," said Woods.
Deputies say 19-year-old Sandoval admitted to not letting anyone leave because he is an adult and didn't want to be responsible for the under-aged drinking.
Neighbors said this is the third weekend in a row that there's been a party-related incident at that house that's involved law enforcement. They said this wasn't the first time they heard gunshots, either.
According to online jail records Sandoval and Sanchez are still in custody.
Sanchez does not have a criminal history.
Court background investigators said Sandoval had a violent record when he was a juvenile and currently has 30 bench warrants.
