SAN YSIDRO, N.M. (KRQE) - New Mexico State Police are looking for two gunmen who stormed a home in Sandoval County leaving the homeowner with a gunshot wound.
It happened just before 4 a.m. in San Ysidro northwest of Rio Rancho.
Authorities were called to the home, and when officers arrived they found the homeowner shot.
Police say the suspects pounded on the front door...and when the homeowner answered...a fight broke out.
Witnesses say the suspects demanded some belongings, and then they heard multiple shots fired.
"It was two males; both of them were wearing hoodies over their face," State Police Lt. Eric Garcia told KRQE News 13. "They were driving a white pickup truck, possibly a GMC. They had left south on State Road 4 heading toward (U.S.) 550."
State police say the victim's wife and two small children were in the home at the time of the shooting.
They were not hurt.
Information on the homeowner's condition has yet to be released.
