SANTA FE (KRQE) - A judge will soon decide if four former Robertson High School football players accused of sexually assaulting teammates should have separate trails.
Attorneys for the four players argued Friday in Santa Fe District Court that it wouldn't be fair to hold one trail for all four of the defendants.
"Each of the defendants acted individually," defense attorney Billy Blackburn said. "If one of the other defendant did something that my client had nothing to do with it's not fair that the jury hears that and has to decide how that affects my client."
However, the victims said they don't want to be put through four separate trails.
An attorney for the victims said the victims should only have to testify once in public about the very humiliating incident.
The four Las Vegas teens are accused of raping younger football teammates with a broomstick last year at a preseason football camp.
The judge is expected to decide on Jan. 11 if the four suspects will be tried together. He will also decide if the trial will stay in Santa Fe or be moved.
Defense attorneys asked for a change of venue because of the extensive pretrial media coverage.
Two other former players have already accepted plea deals.
