ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Police investigating a call about a suspected drunk driver found a child parenting his grandmother.
Police got a call Saturday night that a driver was intoxicated in the Giant's parking lot in northwest Albuquerque.
Cops found 53-year-old Helen Speer who they say appeared to be intoxicated.
According to the criminal complaint, Speer said she drove to the gas station and that's when her 6-year-old grandchild took her keys away from her.
Officers also noticed two other children under the age of five in the back seat of the car.
A relative was then called to pick up the kids.
Speer performed poorly on a field sobriety test and was arrested.
She was in court Sunday charged with three counts of child abuse
