ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) - You know the saying no good deed goes unpunished? Well one Rio Rancho man has proof of that in the form of dozens of stab wounds.
“I did think that I was going to die in that driver’s seat,” said the victim, who asked News 13 not to identify him because of what he said happened to him.
While on an early morning coffee run Friday he said he came upon a man near the intersection of Paradise and Golf Course Road NW.
“It just looked like something was wrong, like his car died there or something, so I slowed down I put the passenger window down,” the victim said.
He then asked the man if he needed help, the man told him he needed a ride, the victim told him he could not give him a ride but he could make a call for him. That’s when things went south.
“Then he said, 'Then I’ll take your mother f’in car,'” he said.
The victim said the man started swinging at him through the passenger window, then got in the car and stabbed him again and again with some sort of half scissor.
“I was telling him two things while this was going on: 'Stop. Stop. Just take the vehicle. Stop. Take the vehicle.'”
Eventually the victim was able to get away after more struggling. He left the attacker behind and said he was so freaked out he just drove home.
“I’ve always thought in the past if something’s ever going to happen do this or do that or..., you don’t even have time to think,” the victim said.
Once his wife saw him she called their son, who made his dad call police. Officers took photos of his injuries and his blood-stained clothes.
The victim then went to the hospital where he ended up needing stitches and staples
“I’ve helped people all my life," he said. "I’m not helping nobody no more."
The attacker is still out there. The only description the victim could give was that he was wearing a big jacket because he said it all happened so fast.
Albuquerque police did find a car near that intersection, but it’s not clear who it belongs to.
