Found DNA leads to murder arrest

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Bernalillo County Deputies said that DNA evidence helped them make an arrest in a nine-month-old murder case.

Chrstopher Sanchez, 46, is accused of killing Louie Maldonado, 36, near Isleta and Barcelona SW in February.

Deputies said Sanchez denied the murder, saying that a group of people beat Maldonado to death.

However, deputies said they found blood on Sanchez's boots and beer cans at the scene which matched Maldonado's DNA.

Sanchez is charged with an open count of murder. He's being held on a $1 million bond.
