ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A former Bernalillo County Firefighter has ducked and dodged rape charges for years , but as of Thursday 37-year-old Celso Montano is behind bars.
Montano is charged with four counts of rape, kidnapping and assault. He is also charged with probation violations.
Albuquerque police one of the rapes he’s accused of happened just hours after a judge decided Montano could remain free on a probation violation last month.
One of Montano’s victims told investigators that she was walking on west Central near 60th late at night when Montano pulled up to her on the street and asked for directions. When the woman got closer she said he pulled her into his truck and raped her in an alley.
Three other women say they were raped in a very similar way.
On Thursday Judge Edwards Benavidez said Montano’s record speaks for itself.
In 2009 Montano was also charged with raping a woman, he pleaded to a lesser charge then and was given probation instead of prison time.
