ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A former lea county sheriff's deputy who raped a 9-year-old girl has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.
Danny Surratt, 62, was sentenced Wednesday morning.
After he gets out of jail, he will be placed on intense supervised parole and must register as a sex offender.
This is not the only trial Surratt will face. When authorities were investigating the rape claims from the 9-year-old, a 16-year-old came forward saying Surratt had also assaulted her when she was little.
Both incidents happened while Surratt was a lea county deputy.
