ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - He was dressed like the masked crusader, but police say this batman's calling was crime.
Officers say he was just one of five armed robbery suspects.
Jason Smith, Joy Sanchez, Renee garnet, Brian Braxton and Joshua Ivery were all in court Saturday.
The group was arrested Friday after police spotted them at an Albuquerque apartment complex loading items into a car, just moments after a silent alarm tripped at a nearby subway.
Police say Ivery was the serial robber accused of hitting up several other businesses.
But officers say it was Jason smith who stole the show when he robbed a Dairy Queen robbery on Louisiana, wearing a batman mask.
Court background investigators say his lengthy criminal history was the reason they recommended a high bond Saturday.
“Sir, I’ll go ahead and set your bond at $75,000 cash or surety, I’ll set for a day rule case,” Judge Daniel Ramczyk said.
According to a criminal complaint, officers found the batman mask inside an apartment Smith had been staying at.
