ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The FBI is getting briefed on a gruesome double murder that led to the shooting of a Lea County deputy.

The Roswell Daily Record reports FBI agents will meet with state police, the Hobbs police and Eddy and Lea County sheriff's detectives about the deaths of two men in Chavez County last month.

The first victim was burned and left near an oil field east of Hagerman.

The other, 48-year-old Mark Walters was found dead, his body also possibly burned near Lake Arthur.

Lea County Sergeant Michael Tovar was shot serving a search warrant, related to the murders, in Hobbs.

He is okay.

Two men were charged with that shooting, but so far answers about the murders are limited.
