BLOOMFIELD, N.M. (KRQE) - San Juan County deputies are questioning the family of a 5-year-old girl who is in a coma after apparently being abused.

Sheriff’s said the young girl who lives near Bloomfield was still in a coma Friday after being taken to the hospital because she was having seizures.

Doctors at San Juan Regional Medical Center notified authorities because the girl appeared to have been abused, citing head trauma and bruises all over her body.

Detectives also believe she was burned with cigarettes.

At this time no arrests have been made.
