SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Former Public Regulation Commissioner Jerome Block Jr. is heading back to court after being jailed last week and dismissed from a drug treatment program.
Block is scheduled for a release hearing Thursday in state district court. The hearing could determine whether he will be released from jail in Santa Fe pending his sentencing.
Block faces up to 4½ years in prison. Block has pleaded guilty to felonies, including fraudulent use of a state-issued credit card.
He resigned from the PRC as part of the plea deal with the attorney general's office and was supposed to complete a drug court program providing treatment and random drug testing.
Had he complied with terms of his plea agreement, Block would have been eligible for a "conditional dismissal" of his charges.
