FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - A tip has led drug agents in northwest New Mexico to more than two truckloads of marijuana and an arsenal of high-powered firearms.
Regional drug agents say the 28 confiscated firearms include UZI submachine guns, AK47 assault rifles, AR15 rifles, sniper rifles and shotguns.
The weapons and drugs were placed around a farm north of Aztec.
Farmington police Cpl. Guy Postlewait tells The Daily Times they're the type of rifles a SWAT team possesses.
A drug task force Wednesday arrested 40-year-old Shan Hays on suspicion of felon in possession of a firearm, one count of distribution of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
More than 100 pounds of marijuana was seized and agents dug up 52 pot plants, some as tall as 10 feet.
